Coral Sea Dreaming Awaken

Over 84 extraordinary minutes, Coral Sea Dreaming – Awaken, enters into the very heart of life – and death – on a coral reef.  It is a story that spans 500 million years and stars some of the most exotic and wondrous marine creatures on earth.  Coral is the planets great natural architect, and coral reefs boast the highest biodiversity of any ecosystem.

7 years in the making, Coral Sea Dreaming – Awaken, is the ultimate, everlasting testimony to this extraordinary undersea world.  The film features thousands of reef creatures, including turtles, sea snakes, sharks, ribbon eels, alien sea slugs, octopus, whales, rays and massive fish schools reminiscent of a bygone age.  Specialized, State-of-the-Art High Definition technology documents these lives with unprecedented intimacy, elaborate courtship displays, mating rituals, feeding frenzies, intense night-time predation, cannibalism and chemical warfare.

Many of these sequences have never been filmed before.  Some may never be filmed again.  Corals have survived 5 mass extinctions.  But can they survive us?

Coral Sea Dreaming – Awaken, brings together the acclaimed cinematography of Emmy Award winner David Hannan, with an original music score composed by Tania Rose.

Lucy Trippett Photo Exhibition

Lucy Trippett is multitalented; she is a film producer, production co-ordination and photographer. Lucy has been diving in the worlds amazing oceans for the past 20 years, and for the past 16 years with Plankton Productions in the Coral Sea.  Lucy’s extraordinary photos truly capture the wonder of ocean life.  Lucy puts it all in perspective when she states, ”When I first started diving years ago I though fish were rather simple creatures that just swam contentedly around the sea.   I can’t imagine thinking that now, having seen what I’ve seen.   Sea creatures can be inquisitive, elusive, wary, intimidating and often enormously entertaining.

I’ve seen cunning octopus spring out of crevices ambushing shrimps, sneaky anglerfish sidle up to prey as large as themselves and then gulp them whole, or little crabs peeking up at me supposedly incognito underneath their home made sponge hats.  Coral bombies I liken to a little underwater city and the home to fish, crustaceans and slugs, all living, courting and often fighting amongst themselves.  The Coral Sea is like an underwater country with sharks, rays and whales cruising the highways.  Trips out there are special; in parts you can see what it must have been like all over our ocean years ago, it is so precious.  I cannot express how I feel about the ocean or the Coral Sea in words but I hope I do through my photos.”
